State Representative Rodney Creech announced the Ohio House of Representatives' recent passage of Senate Bill 100. This bill offers members of the Ohio Farm Bureau access to a more affordable and personalized health insurance coverage plan.

The bill seeks to overcome a significant challenge for those in the agriculture industry: securing affordable healthcare for their families. The Farm Bureau Health Plan, created through this legislation, is an individually evaluated plan that is self-governed and self-funded for members of the Ohio Farm Bureau. As such, it is exempt from regulation and not subject to Affordable Care Act guidelines. Senate Bill 100 provides another option for affordable healthcare coverage within the agriculture community.

"With agriculture being Ohio’s top industry, it’s important to support our farmers and provide them an affordable health insurance option," said Creech.

Agriculture stands as Ohio's leading industry, with an economic impact exceeding $100 billion and employing one out of every seven Ohioans. The state hosts over 75,000 farms, with 90% being family-owned.

Senate Bill 100 will now proceed to the Governor for his signature.
