State Representative Lauren McNally announced that Goshen and Green townships in Mahoning County will receive $32,098.56 from the Ohio Department of Transportation's Township Safety Signage Grant Program. The funds are aimed at improving roadway safety.
Rep. McNally emphasized the importance of maintaining safe roadways, stating, "We must continue to prioritize the safety of travelers on Ohio’s roadways. No matter how major or minor the fix is on any of our roads, safety remains a top priority as safe roadways protect lives."
The funding comes from ODOT’s Highway Safety Improvement Program (HSIP), which allocates $2 million annually for upgrading and installing new safety signage on township roads across Ohio. Townships can request up to $50,000 for signs, posts, and hardware if they have higher than average crash rates over the past five years and have not previously received grants from this program.
The allocation to Goshen and Green townships is part of a broader distribution of $845,040 supporting 38 roadway signage projects in local townships across 30 counties.
