FOIA Request Sent to Shelby County Regarding Access to FOIA Logs from January to October 2024

FOIA Request to Shelby County Regarding Access to FOIA Logs from January to October 2024.

We at Tri County News, a media organization dedicated to delivering comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, have formally requested access to specific records under the Ohio Open Records Law, §149.43 et seq. The request was sent on October 7, 2024.

The information we are seeking includes a list of FOIA logs that were sent to Shelby County from January 1, 2024, until October 7, 2024. We have asked for the following details: Requester Name, Requester Organization, Request Content, Request Date, Request Complete Date, and FOIA Status.

As a media organization involved in gathering and reporting news to the public, access to these public records is essential for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities. These responsibilities include holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public. Given our role in disseminating information, we believe we are eligible for a fee waiver as a media professional.

We await the response from Shelby County regarding this request and will keep our readers updated on any developments.
