COLUMBUS - Powell's Save Women's Sports Act and the Ohio SAFE Act, which protect the rights of Ohio women, children, and families, are facing legal challenges from the ACLU, as reported on Mar 28, 2024.
"I’m saddened that the ACLU has attacked women's rights and children’s safety through this dangerous lawsuit," expressed Powell. He criticized the ACLU, stating, "These radicals are putting their big-money donors' agendas over what is best for kids in Ohio - we cannot and should not tolerate it." Powell emphasized the importance of protecting the rights of women and children in Ohio, highlighting the risks posed by certain practices.
Powell's Save Women's Sports Act, aimed at ensuring fair competition in women's sports, received approval from the Ohio House and Senate earlier this year. The legislation seeks to maintain a level playing field for female athletes and safeguard opportunities such as sports trophies and scholarships from being unfairly claimed by biological males. Similarly, the Ohio SAFE Act, which prohibits minors from undergoing irreversible gender transition procedures, garnered significant support in the Ohio House of Representatives.
"The protections for women and children within the Save Women’s Sports Act and the Ohio SAFE Act are set to go into effect on April 24th," concluded the article.
