The City of Green is requesting letters of interest from residents and students who are interested in being considered for the 2023 Comprehensive Land Use Plan Steering Committee.

Apply now.

The City’s Comprehensive Land Use Plan is a guiding document, directed by residents and local stakeholders, adopted by the Planning & Zoning Commission and City Council, that identifies the community’s vision for the future. Green’s first comprehensive plan was completed in 1996 under the name “Long Range Comprehensive Land Use Plan and Policy Guide” and was most recently updated in 2014.  As with earlier efforts, the 2023 update will be a collaborative process to create a shared vision and identify priorities around the city’s evolving built, natural and human environments.

The Steering Committee will be made up of 19 members who meet regularly over an approximately 12-month period to provide guidance on the overall direction of the plan.  The Steering Committee will include a representative from City Council, Planning & Zoning Commission, Design Review Board, Board of Zoning Appeals, Historic Preservation Commission, Parks & Recreation Board, the Living Green Task Force, Diversity, Equity, Inclusion Committee, the city’s faith and business communities, and the city’s Metropolitan Planning Organization (AMATS).   Six seats – four (4) residents and two (2) students will be included through the submission of a Letter of Interest.

Letters of Interest will be accepted from Tuesday, February 14 through Friday, March 3 at 3pm.
