Well, the dust has settled, and the cast is set for Super Bowl LVII. As an aside, with kids barely knowing cursive, is it possible any of the millennials or younger will be able to decipher “LVII?” (That was intended as a challenge to see if we have any millennial readers.) Meanwhile, older folks, raise your hands if you watched Super Bowl I, which wasn’t even called “Super Bowl” back in 1967 when Green Bay throttled the upstart AFL Kansas City Chiefs. And why, by the way, did we have to bring that up? Fifty-two years later and Kansas City is back again, while Cleveland has yet to be there. That’s okay, wait till next year . . .
As for this year, since neither the Browns nor the Steelers will be playing, perhaps you can develop a rooting interest in the Philadelphia Eagles whose head coach Nick Sirianni played his college ball down the road in Alliance for Mount Union. We had the chance to get to know Nick and his family at that time, and you couldn’t ask for a more polite and courteous, yet extremely competitive, young man, or a nicer family. It’s always nice to see good people achieve! So if you don’t have a favorite on Super Sunday, root a little for Nick Sirianni and the Philadelphia Eagles.
