Notice is hereby given that the City of Piqua has conducted an updated Self-Evaluation of city-owned facilities and programs for compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and prepared a draft Transition Plan describing the results of the self-evaluation. Title II of the ADA requires that each of the city’s services, programs, and activities be readily accessible and usable by individuals with disabilities. Copies of the Self-Evaluation and Transition Plan are available for public review at the following locations (during normal hours) beginning on October 20, 2022:
• Municipal Government Complex, Development Department, 201 W. Water St.
• Piqua Public Library, 116 W. High St.
• City Web Site (https://piquaoh.org/433/Community-Development)
Comments can be provided, in writing, by the deadline of November 20, 2022, at 5 p.m. to Bethany Harp, at the Municipal Government Complex, Development Department, 201 W. Water St. or via e-mail at bharp@piquaoh.gov. All comments will be reviewed and considered and included in the appendix of the document. It is the intention of the City to adopt the Self-Evaluation and Transition Plan update following the close of the public comment period and make any changes required as a result of public comments.
Piqua is soliciting public input, especially from persons with disabilities, their caregivers, and disability advocates, on what barriers to access or use of city facilities or programs exist or are perceived to exist. This will also be an opportunity for the community to provide suggestions and comments on how to remove barriers. All comments will be reviewed and considered for inclusion in the final Transition Plan update.
The City of Piqua complies with the Americans with Disabilities Act. Upon request, the city will provide written materials in appropriate alternative formats, or disability-related modification or accommodation, including auxiliary aids or services, to enable individuals with disabilities to participate in public input. Please send a written request, including your name, mailing address, phone number, and brief description of the requested accommodation at least three (3) business days prior to the close of the comment period to Bethany Harp at (937) 778-2049 or bharp@piquaoh.gov.
